your memories in glass

One of the first glass print pieces I made was from an old family photo of my grandmother as a child. I love working with that sort of imagery as the old photos work spectacularly well in this process. They just look right. Hand-drawn imagery and line art also work really well. The resulting print is permanent. It is fade-proof, water-proof and heat resistant. (It's not drop-proof or hammer-proof though.)

Not interested in stand or wall pieces? Functional pieces can also be made. If you just need to eat tomato soup off of Great Aunt Martha's face, a bowl can be made for you. Other possibilities include custom glass tiles, table top insets, coasters.

Please feel free to contact me with any idea for feasibility and pricing.

a handmade and beautiful expression

It all begins with your photo or artwork and a brief consultation to help me understand your needs for the image. Old photos can be cleaned up—removing dust, and scratches—or the "age" can be left on them. I then will make screens and print your image using powders or enamels and fire it in the kiln to create a single fused piece glass art.

add depth

Your image can be "dissassembled" in Photoshop and then recast as a multi-layer piece, adding depth and interest. Keep your grandparents on the first layer, drop the old Studebaker they are in front of back a layer... the line of trees behind it even further back.

take it funky or pop art

Rather than disassembling the picture, the background in many images can be replaced to create a pop art look—giving an contemporary touch to an antique photo. Many different looks can be achieved from your photo by simply switching out the background. Spot color can also be added by taking advantage of transparency.

add texture or "bling"

Bits of dichroic or iridized glass can be added to your image for decoration. Surface powder and frit can add texture. Mica can be used to add gold or silver luster. Texture can also be carved using one of my custom texture tiles. Custom textures can also be created.
